Tan and Tired

We got back from Powell late Monday night. The trip was great, the sun was great, the sand was great - except the infamous Lake Powell mud that doesn't come off of anything. blah.

I went with Isaac and his family, 18 people in all. Isaac's parents just bought a new boat so this was the first trip out on it. The boat is super-nice. It has a shower on it so we took warm showers yesterday before we packed up camp. This trip was great because the last two times I've been to lake Powell it rained and the wind blew the whole time we were there. So this trip was awesome!

Wendy and Kye - he is finally starting to warm up to me.
Yesterday we had Sunday dinner with the whole fam - except Lori's fiance, he was out of town.
For dessert we had the leaning tower of cake - it was 3 layers of chocolate cake with fantasmic icing in between each layer and coating the sides of the cake.

Brigette and Justin couldn't wait to try it!

Keyan loved it so much - but didn't love it so much when uncle Zane wanted a picture with him.

This is a picture of the cake before we cut into it. It was funny because the cake wasn't COMPLETELY cooled when I iced it - so it started caving into itself. By the time we finished eating our pieces, the left over cake was a big mound of chocolate goo. Pretty gross, but it tasted great going down. :)
Good times all around.

Yesterday my mom and I went to a luncheon at Thanksgiving Point. We had a fantastically yummy lunch and then got to hear Hillary Weeks speak and sing. She is so funny and great to listen to. My favorite song of hers is on her album He Hears Me. The song is called Be Still. Check out her web site at www.hillaryweeks.com. After the lunch and performance we went and walked around the gardens at Thanksgiving Point. It was awesome - just me and my mom and a beautiful view.
