time off

this last weekend and week was awesome.
we had a holiday on monday and then the chubbers and i went with the hubbers down south for a work trip. it was awesome - i got to spend 5 whole, uninterrupted days with the chubbers - the most since i was on maternity leave. it was glorious. my little chubbers is SO FUN and SO AWESOME!

this is one of his new tricks - he's starting to realize he can hold his bottle and can even sometimes get it into his mouth by himself. so cute!

here's us during the drive. he was such a champ and hardly fussed at all on the way there or back. what a relief!!!

here we are on one of our potty breaks.
the chubbers loves to slobber on anything he can get in his mouth.
so gross.

let me explain this picture. see the chubbers sitting over to the right - you can just see his little noggin' sticking above the covers on the bed. well, the sun was shining in from the window onto the wall and the chubbers LOVES, did i mention LOVES, to stare at lights? so he was fixated with this shaft of light on the wall. well, the hubbers started doing shadow puppets on the wall and the chubbers couldn't figure out what was going on. it was hilarious! it kept them both entertained for a while.

here's us on our way home
this was after he threw up green beans on me about 20 minutes AFTER he had finished eating. awesome.
we were ready to be home at this point.

all in all it was a great trip - we loved going with the hubbers and having the chubbers first road trip.

now - in the spirit of playing catch up, here's this week's recipe. and since it was frosty and cold this morning, i thought a soup recipe sounded warming and delicious.

Curried Pumpkin Soup - from Anne E.
3Tbsp. butter
1 onion, chopped
2 cups canned pumpkin
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. white pepper
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. curry powder
1 bay leaf
3 cups chicken broth
1 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup milk

Sauté chopped onion in butter in large soup kettle.
When onion is lightly brown add pumpkin and spices and stir until well mixed, slowly add chicken broth.
Bring to boil and simmer for 15 minutes.
Reduce heat, add cream and milk.
Heat thoroughly without bringing to a boil.
This makes 4 large or 6 small servings.
Pull out bay leaf before serving.
Great with bread sticks
