my new year's present: a new nephew!

our new year's weekend was made so much sweeter by being able to welcome our new nephew - VAI C. - to the world. he was born monday at 5:36 a.m. and we got to meet him last night. the chubbers is sick, so he hasn't met his cous yet but i know they are going to be the best of pals.

on new year's eve the hubbers and i went to see the light parade up at Alta. it was an awesome thing. everyone out there should go and see it someday. it's early in the evening so it leaves plenty of time to go party it up at other venues later in the evening.
we stayed warm by having some sweet hot chocolate out of our thermos.

sorry - bad pic - but you get the idea. skiers ski down the slopes in the dark, marked by red flares, carrying (i think) flashlights. pretty cool. some of our family members were in the parade. if you look close enough, you can see them.

vai is so beautiful - and looks just like his daddy, except he has black hair. he is so tiny and awesome. mom did great through the whole process and now the real fun begins!
